ASPEN, Colo.—A transportation committee has rejected a proposal to study linking all four Aspen-area ski mountains.

Supporters want the committee to consider building a gondola from the Highlands resort to Buttermilk, and another connection from there to the Snowmass Ski Area. A connection linking Highlands and Aspen Mountain would be more difficult and could be studied later.

According to the Aspen Daily News ( ) the Elected Officials Transportation Committee cited environmental concerns and concerns over high winds shutting the system down and stranding skiers.
