A standing-room-only crowd attended the funeral for Jervon Wayne Pitts, 30, of Commerce City Wednesday in Aurora, as law enforcement continues to look for clues in his unexplained death on Oct. 15.

Pitts was found dead at 56th Avenue and Quebec Street in Commerce City at about 9:30 p.m. that night. According to his obituary, Pitts went by the name “Little Face.”

His grandmother, Billie Walker, said today that Pitts’ body was found in the street. He suffered massive injuries to his head and face, she said.

Though his wallet and cash were still on him, someone took his identification, she said.

“I’m not going to have any peace until I find out how he died,” Walker said.

Investigators have not released little information in the case, and the Adams County Coroner’s Office is listing the cause of death listed as “pending.”

Detective Mike Saunders, a spokesman for Commerce City police, said investigators do not want to release details about because they are actively pursuing those who are responsible.

Walker said Pitts is survived by four young sons. He lived near where he was found dead, and the last time his family saw him, he said he was walking to visit his other grandmother, Walker said.

“He a great person, always smiling,” Walker said. “He would do anything in the world he could for you.”

Anyone with information about his death can call the Commerce City Police tipline at 303-289-3626 or Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.

A tip, including an anonymous tip, that leads to an arrest and conviction is eligible for a $2,000 reward.
