UQM Technologies Inc. said today it has begun high-volume production of its PowerPhase Pro electric motors and controllers.
The company’s production line has a capacity of 40,000 units on two shifts.
The production launch “is a significant step in the broad commercialization of our electric propulsion systems,” said Eric Ridenour, chief executive of the Longmont-based company.
Ridenour said high-volume manufacturing will generate a “substanital increase” in revenue.
UQM Technologies’ electric motors, generators and power electronic controllers are used in automotive, aerospace, military and industrial markets.
In earlier trading today, UQM shares were up 13 cents to $1.87.
