On Tuesday, Ikea launches its annual Soft Toys for Education Campaign, a philanthropic promotion that has raised roughly $47.5 million for UNICEF and Save the Children. Here’s how it works: For each Ikea soft toy that a customer purchases, 1 euro (or approximately $1.30) will be donated to the campaign. A-loom-inating event
The 26th Annual Joe Ben Wheat Navajo Weaving Silent Auction and Benefit will happen from noon to 7 p.m. Thursday in the lobby of the Denver Post building, 101 W. Colfax Ave. The event is coordinated by Durango’s Toh-Atin Gallery to raise money for the University of Colorado Museum of Natural History’s collections. It’s named after Joe Ben Wheat, who engineered the museum’s textile collection more than 20 years ago. Brushing up on green materials
Denver’s eco-friendly Casa Verde Paint has relocated to a new, bigger location in order to offer more sustainable paints, plasters and the like. “In addition to the premium zero-VOC paints and plasters we currently feature, we will be introducing new brands and categories of interior finishes, including stains and sealers, concrete coatings, wall coverings and panel products, some of which will be locally sourced,” company owner Laurie Hessemer said in a statement about the new location, which also will host regular training events.
