Faith Christian guard Nathan Rindels has been a big part of his team winning state basketball championships over the last few seasons. It will be up to him to push his squad to another championship this winter, but the talent certainly is there.
Rindels is focusing on preparing himself for a big senior year on the hardwood but is also keeping an eye on the recruiting process.
“Right now, I’ve been contacted by Air Force, CSU-Pueblo, Colorado Christian University, Westmont (Calif.), and Dordt (Iowa) College,” he said.
Dordt has offered, and Rindels has visited.
“I liked it but I don’t know if I am ready to make a decision,” he said. “There is a lot to think about.”
He’s also not ready to name a favorite: “Really, I’m not leaning any one direction right now.”
Quick hitters.
• Mullen linebacker Patrick Healy has done an excellent job in making the move from defensive end to linebacker as a junior. That is likely where he will end up playing in college. “Washington came and watched Cyler (Miles) but (the staff) said (they) liked how I played,” Healy said. “I’ve been getting some stuff from Washington, I talked to a CU coach, and then it has been some of the same old schools like UCLA, ASU, Air Force, and Northwestern.”
• Grandview linebacker Keith Chiles has been a big reason for his team’s turnaround after a Zero Week loss to Valor Christian. His ability to play on both sides of the football has helped to show his versatility to college coaches. “It has been CU, Wyoming, CSU, San Diego State, Montana State, and Montana,” Chiles said.
• Highlands Ranch lineman Ed Caldwell is working on helping his team to a deep run in the playoffs but continues to sort through college attention. “(Northern Colorado) has called, (Colorado) School of Mines has called, and then I’ve talked to a number of other Division II schools like Augustana,” Caldwell said.
