Early this morning, search and rescue teams found a Big Elk Meadows woman who’d been reported missing about 11 p.m. Tuesday after leaving her home to go on an evening hike.

The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office said the woman, Robin Kay, 52, was found at about 4:30 a.m. today in a vacant cabin on County Road 82E, about three miles from her Big Elk Meadows home northwest of Lyons.

Kay had taken shelter in the cabin during Tuesday night’s snowstorm, according to the sheriff’s office’s news release. She was escorted home and required no medical attention.

The Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, Front Range Rescue Dogs, the Big Elk Meadows and Pinewood Springs fire departments, Estes Park Ambulance and the sheriff’s office participated in the search.
