DENVER—Prosecutors say two former Denver residents have been arrested in Idaho and Wyoming in connection with a woman’s stabbing death in 2000.
The Denver district attorney’s office said Friday that 29-year-old John Vazquez and his 39-year-old ex-girlfriend, Marie Lynn Marone, face charges of first-degree murder after deliberation and first-degree felony murder.
The charges allege Vazquez stabbed 36-year-old Renee Ealy in June 2000 while Marone allegedly watched. Ealy’s body was found in her apartment.
Denver police spokesman Sonny Jackson told The Denver Post ( ) information from two people who came forward and DNA evidence helped lead to the arrests.
Vazquez was being held in Boise, Idaho, while Marone was being held in Cheyenne, Wyo.
