Catching one duck is hard. They can be a bit shy and they’re known to flee to the middle of the nearest body of water when under duress. (Plus, they’re slippery.)

So it’s no surprise that trying to catch nine ducks is almost comically difficult.

Just ask Peter Lawton and Paul Szilagyi, neighbors who spent a chunk of Thursday afternoon trying to coax nine adolescent ducks off of Maxwell Lake in north Boulder and into three large pet kennels borrowed from the Humane Society of Boulder Valley.

The problem? The ducks are motherless.
