COLORADO SPRINGS — More than 250 soldiers from Fort Carson’s 10th Combat Support Hospital will soon join thousands of their comrades in Afghanistan.
The doctors, nurses and medics from the unit are preparing to leave this week for a year-long deployment to provide medical care for wounded troops and injured Afghans.
A ceremony to mark the unit’s departure was held Friday.
The Gazette reported that troops in the medical unit have undergone a year of intense training, with some members working in Colorado Springs emergency rooms to hone their skills.
