NASA plans to add an unmanned flight test of the Orion/Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle in early 2014 to its contract with Lockheed Martin Space System. The Jefferson County-headquartered Space Systems Division is designing, testing and evaluating the spacecraft.
The exploration flight test will fly two orbits to a high point, with a high-energy re-entry through Earth’s atmosphere. Launch will be from Cape Canaveral, Fla.
