COMMERCE CITY, Colo.—Skyler Erickson scored in the 63rd minute Wednesday night, and the Mullen Mustangs beat the Evergreen Cougars 1-0 for the Class 4A state championship at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.

Zach Sunderhuse sent a cross from the left corner to Erickson, who redirected the ball inside the near post.

Fifth-seeded Mullen (13-5-2), which avenged its opening-season 1-0 loss at Evergreen, won its first boys’ soccer title.

Evergreen (17-3), the No. 2 seed, nearly tied the game in the 73rd minute when Brian Grieve headed a floater into the legs of Mullen’s Eric Morrison, who was aiding keeper Liam O’Connor by standing next to the post.
