The Action Center assists thousands of disadvantaged and low-income people across Jefferson County. Organization leaders say they are in urgent need of food for both their upcoming Thanksgiving food distribution on Nov. 20 and their daily distribution of food.

They say donations of both food and money have slowed considerably this fall while they have seen demand rise by about 40 percent. Many of the shelves in the warehouse are empty as the deadline nears.

The Action Center is in particular need of dried potatoes, yams, turkey gravy, corn bread (mix), pie filling and chicken broth for the holiday boxes. The center could also use about 150 more volunteers to help this season. For more information, call the Action Center at 303-237-7704.
