Even though the company producing beefcake calendars of firefighters said Wednesday it is not a nonprofit, its website and Facebook page until recently said that all proceeds went to the Burn Center at Children’s Hospital Colorado, according to 9News.

The Denver district attorney’s office confirmed Wednesday that it was investigating theft allegations involving Fired Up for Kids, run by Kristen Hamling.

Children’s Hospital Foundation has asked the organization to stop using its name until the independent investigation is complete.

9News reported that the firm’s bank statements showed some money raised by the group was spent on trips to Disneyland and at 24 Hour Fitness and that only Hamling had access to the funds.

Firefighters who posed for the calendar told 9News they believed the funds would go to charity.

“We feel like we’ve been duped,” one model said. “Every charity has operating costs. . . . But overall, I would say most of us feel let down.”

News4, which first reported the story, said Thursday that sources said only half the money raised went to the burn unit.
