Visit Santa at Lighting of Dillon. The Lighting of Dillon celebration will take place Dec. 1. Starting at 5:30 p.m., visitors can give their wish list to Santa, craft with Mrs. Claus, enjoy holiday music and complimentary food and beverages, and top it off with the town-lighting festivities. of 970-468-2403
Candlelight tours of historic fort. Bent’s Old Fort, 8 miles east of La Junta, will offer candlelight tours of the fort Dec. 2-3. Period re-enactors in various rooms will preparing for the holidays. After the tours, guests are invited to stay for authentic treats from the 1800s. On Saturday, day activities will also include toy making, frontier medicine, wagon rides and ongoing living-history re-enactments. Reservations are recommended for the candlelight tours, which run 6:30-9:30 p.m. on Friday and 5:30-9:30 p.m. on Saturday. The cost is $3 for adults and $2 for ages 6-12. or 719-383-5026
Breckenridge’s Race of the Santas. The Race of the Santas and the lighting of Breckenridge will take place on Dec. 3. The race will bring about 100 Santa Clauses through Main Street for fun and fundraising. Registration starts at $20 and includes a Santa suit and donation to Adopt an Angel Summit County.
