BOULDER, Colo.—Boulder officials are considering a speed limit on bicyclists.

The Boulder City Council is expected to take up a proposal Tuesday to set a speed limit of 8 miles per hour on cyclists.

According to the Boulder Daily Camera ( ), transportation engineer Bill Cowern says too many accidents involve bicycles at the city’s 15 flashing crosswalks.

Bicyclists say state laws are sufficient to regulate bicycle riders. Police say they are ready to do speed checks if the council approves the plan.
