Five players and two coaches on a Fort Collins-based elite women’s softball team are recovering at a Kansas hospital after their van rolled over this afternoon.
None were seriously injured, however.
“They’re beat up a little, bumps and bruises,” said Dave King, general manager of the Triple Crown Stars, team of 16- to 18-year-old college-bound players.
King said the van rolled after a tire blew out near Colby, Kans.
“The metal luggage rack on top kept the roof from caving in on them,” he said.
The Triple Crown Stars were returning to Colorado after competing this weekend in the Mustangs Indoor Tournament in Wichita, Kans.
