DENVER—Two Denver police officers were justified in shooting and killing a suspect who police say during a robbery fired a shot inside a store, assaulted and tied up an employee with a computer cord and then fired a weapon into a car during an attempted carjacking.

Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey says both officers involved in the shooting death of 24-year-old Mark Sepulveda Oct. 18 will not face criminal charges.

In a letter outlining the investigation and his decision released Monday, Morrissey says Sepulveda pointed his gun at officers who confronted him as he tried to steal an SUV. The Denver Post reports ( ) that Sepulveda and the other suspect, 21-year-old Justin Martinez were suspects in a murder case in Lakewood.

Martinez is custody for both cases.
