Denver International Airport has broken its record for the busiest September in its 16-year history.
A total of 4,344,205 travellers passed through DIA in September, a 0.6 percent increase from the 4,317,995 who used the airport during the same month last year. Last year’s September use also was a record.
The year-to-date passenger traffic for September is 40,102,951, an increase of 820,557 passengers, or 2.1 percent, over the same nine-month period in 2010.
“Despite the cutback in overall flight operations, passenger traffic has continued to grow,” said aviation manager Kim Day. “We are expecting to see additional capacity cuts over the next several months, so we’ll be anxiously waiting to see how that will impact our traffic for the remainder of 2011 and into 2012.”
