The federal bankruptcy court trustee overseeing the case of troublshooting consumer advocate Tom Martino wants to auction Martino’s airplane hangar to meet some of the radio personality’s debts.
In a filing Monday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Denver, trustee Simon Rodriguez said he’d like to see the hangar at Front Range Airport auctioned in January in part because it’s owned free and clear.
Martino has used the hangar for an antique airplane and a helicopter and lately has been renting a bunch of the space to someone without the benefit of a lease, he said at a recent hearing.
Purchased in May 2006 for about $300,000, Martino’s company, Colorado Airplane Hangar Co., has used the hangar in Watkins for a variety of things. It even includes a small two- story space suitable for apartment- style living, Rodriguez has testified.
A judge ultimately must approve the sale, which Rodriguez wants held on Jan. 18. A 5 percent commission would go to the requested auctioneer, Dickensheet & Associates in Denver. David Migoya, The Denver Post
