GREELEY, Colo.—The Big Sky Conference is admitting that officials blew a call in the final seconds of Portland State’s 23-17 victory over the University of Northern Colorado football team.
The conference said Tuesday it may have cost the Bears a win Saturday at Nottingham Field in their regular-season finale.
According to the Greeley Tribune ( ), the conference says UNC wide receiver Dominic Gunn was erroneously penalized for an illegal block with just over 3 seconds remaining that cost a 25-yard touchdown reception by UNC receiver Patrick Walker that would have tied the game.
Big Sky Conference Commissioner Doug Fullerton said in a statement that a film review determined Gunn was blocked into a Portland State player and should not have been called for an illegal block.
