DENVER—Denver International Airport officials have agreed to pay an additional $793,000 to Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava to use most of his design on the South Terminal project.
The Denver Post reports ( ) the agreement announced Wednesday calls for $543,000 for unpaid design work and a $250,000 licensing fee to use the architect’s drawings. Denver has paid Calatrava and his firm, Festina Lente, about $13 million.
Airport Manager Kim Day says the public likely won’t notice a few signature Calatrava design elements left off the project.
Calatrava and his firm pulled out of the $500 million project in September citing disagreements with the program managers, and a lack of faith in the project’s budget and timetable.
The project includes a light rail train terminal, a public plaza and a 500-room hotel.
