RENO, Nev.—The former head of a regional economic development agency in Colorado has been named president and chief executive of the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada based in in Reno.
Mike Kazmierski replaces Chuck Alvey, who announced in May he would step down after 12 years at the helm.
Kazmierski’s appointment was announced Wednesday by EDAWN trustees.
Kazmierski was president and CEO of the Colorado Springs Regional Economic Development Corp. since 2005, and was the agency’s chief operating officer before that.
EDAWN trustees say during his time in Colorado, Kazmierski established successful programs to attract new businesses to the region and increased the number of jobs announced.
They say he also helped develop a business retention and expansion program that was nationally recognized.
