Whittier Elementary School was briefly evacuated this morning, after a space heater caught on fire.
At 9:27 a.m., about 300 students, grades kindergarten through eighth, were evacuated from the school at 2480 Downing St., said Mike Vaughn, spokesman for Denver Public Schools.
The heater was extinguished and students were allowed back in the building shortly after.
No one was injured and there was no damage to the building, Vaughn said.
It was not immediately known where the heater was in building when it caught fire.
