DENVER—Art followers are gathering for the grand opening of the Clyfford Still Museum.
Denver Mayor Michael Hancock will be on hand when the doors of the new museum are opened to the public on Friday.
The museum was financed after Denver sold four paintings by Still for more than $114 million.
Still was one of the first abstract expressionist artists following World War II.
According to KUSA-TV ( ), Still’s will specified that his estate had to go to an American city which was willing to establish a permanent museum for his work.
