Getting your player ready...

Colorado audiences fell hard for San Francisco-bred comedian Moshe Kasher in 2009, first at his breakout performance at the Aspen Rootftop Comedy Festival in June, then again when he headlined Comedy Works South a few weeks later.

Since then, the sharp-tongued stand-up has popped up on Comedy Central, “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” and “Chelsea Lately” while honing his not-so-self-deprecating act.

“Pretty much every show I’ve ever done has been a 10 out of 10,” he said via e-mail. “But the most meaningful shows I have destroyed at recently have been at the Center for the Study of Deep Humility — which I founded and own.”

Subtle, Moshe. Real subtle.

We picked his brain before his Comedy Works sets.

Q: What was your first time doing stand-up like, and what made you want to come back?

A: My first time doing stand- up was at the foot of Mount Sinai in 4,000 B.C. Moses had gone up the mountain two days earlier and the masses were getting a bit restless. Someone had to do something to alleviate the awkwardness, and so I grabbed a ram’s horn megaphone and stepped onto a rock.

Q: Really. How did you do?

A: I killed. I mean the Hebrews were ROLLING. People were throwing manna in the air and screaming with laughter.

Q: What do you like to do outside of comedy?

A: I like to go to a club and become as one with the rhythm. I will put on very, very tight purple fractal-patterned pants and no shirt — but I wear Buddhist beads to let the ladies know my third eye is wide open. I caress myself while the music pumps behind me. That’s what I like to do.

Q: Seriously though, you’ve been blowing up the last couple years. What have you got in the works?

A: I’ll be back on “Chelsea Lately” on the 30th of November. I am taping my hour special at this year’s SF Sketchfest, and I’ll be in the incredible show “Shameless” on Showtime this upcoming season. Life is good.
