The status quo is not an option for Memorial Health System, members of the city task force overseeing the leasing process of the city-owned hospital said Thursday night at a town hall meeting.
Although voters will ultimately approve or reject one of six lease offers being considered by the task force, keeping Memorial under city control could irreparably damage the hospital, said task force member and former city councilman Randy Purvis.
“A failure of the vote would be a disaster,” he said. “We simply cannot allow the hospital to continue to twist in the wind.”
