PHILADELPHIA — As expected, Michael Vick and Jeremy Maclin will not play when the Eagles face the Giants tonight.
Both were downgraded from “questionable” to “out” by the team, and neither made the trip to the Meadowlands with the rest of the Eagles on Saturday.
Vince Young will fill in for Vick, who has two broken ribs, and will make his first start for the Eagles. Young has thrown one pass this season — an interception.
Riley Cooper is expected to start in place of Maclin, who has shoulder and hamstring injuries, at wide receiver.
Vick broke his ribs last Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals and, along with Maclin, didn’t practice last week. Eagles coach Andy Reid said Friday that he felt comfortable starting both players without the benefit of practice as long as they were healthy.
At 3-6 and three games behind the NFC East-leading Giants, the Eagles need a win to keep their already slim playoff hopes alive.
Dolphins sign kicker
DAVIE, Fla. — Veteran kicker Shayne Graham signed with the Dolphins and will be active today against Buffalo if ailing kicker Dan Carpenter is unavailable.
Carpenter was listed as questionable after straining his right groin in practice Thursday.
Graham, an 11-year veteran, kicked most recently last season for New Eng- land. He appeared in eight games and made all 12 of his field-goal tries.
