CHICAGO — The Chicago Tribune reported Sunday that quarterback Jay Cutler broke his right thumb in the Bears’ 31-20 victory over the Chargers and will miss six to eight weeks.

The Bears declined comment. Cutler’s agent, Bus Cook, did not return messages from The Associated Press.

The Tribune reported Cutler was injured trying to prevent a touchdown on a 64-yard interception return by San Diego’s Antoine Cason in the fourth quarter. Cutler got knocked to the ground by linebacker Donald Butler.

He stayed in the game and finished with 286 yards passing. He took longer than usual to come out for his postgame news conference but showed no visible signs of an injury.

Raiders coach sounds off

MINNEAPOLIS — Raiders coach Hue Jackson ripped the officiating crew after Oakland beat the Vikings at the Metrodome to improve to 6-4, saying he doesn’t “even know what football is right now.”

“I am going to reach out to the league myself, personally,” Jackson said. “I normally don’t complain about the officiating. I don’t make any bones that way because I said I wouldn’t. But today I just truly felt like it was a little unfair. I really do.”

The Raiders were penalized 12 times for 117 yards. Four of those penalties were personal fouls.

“I know everyone says we’re the most-penalized team in football and that’s a fact, and I’m not running from that,” Jackson said. “But there’s no way, some things that happened today on that football field, I question. I have to.”

Injury report.

It was a rough day for a couple of the NFL’s top running backs as Buffalo’s Fred Jackson and Minnesota’s Adrian Peterson left their games because of injuries.

Jackson, who began the day leading the league in rushing, sat out much of the second half of the Bills’ 35-8 loss at Miami because of a bruised right calf. X-rays were negative.

Peterson limped off the field in a loss to the Raiders and was taken by cart to the Vikings’ locker room for X-rays, which were negative. He will have an MRI today.

Also, Bills cornerback Terrence McGee (left knee) is probably out for the rest of the season and Buffalo wide receiver Donald Jones (left ankle) might be out three to six weeks.

• Raiders wideout Darrius Heyward-Bey took a hard hit to the head and needed to be carted off the Metrodome field with his neck stabilized, but returned home with the team.

• Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck left the Titans’ loss at Atlanta with a sprained right elbow.
