The Rams
Air Force at Colorado State, 4 p.m., Saturday, The Mtn.
For the record: Colorado State is tied with UNLV for sixth in the Mountain West with a 1-4 record and is 3-7 overall. The Rams are coming off a 34-10 loss at TCU, their sixth consecutive setback.
Streaking: CSU is 19-29-1 all time against the Air Force Academy. The Rams have lost five straight games in the series, with their last win (41-23) coming in 2005.
Who’s hot: Freshman quarterback Garrett Grayson. He threw for 248 yards, a touchdown and an interception in his debut as a starter in CSU’s loss at TCU. It was the best starting debut by a freshman quarterback in recent CSU history.
Who’s not: The CSU defense. To be fair, the Rams’ “D” has had good moments in most games, but there is a breakdown component that has allowed opponents to roll up yards and points in each contest.
Key stat: 50. That’s the number of points CSU has been outscored by in the third quarter this season — 84-34.
FYI: The status of starting quarterback Pete Thomas (knee) will be determined later this week, coach Steve Fairchild said. . . . Chris Nwoke’s 60 yards rushing at TCU were his fewest in three weeks. Even with that, the sophomore still has run for 448 yards in the last three games.
Injury report: QB Pete Thomas (knee), OL Paul Madsen (ankle).
