With nine more Colorado ski resorts set to open this holiday weekend, Mother Nature is providing a blanket of white in strategic parts of the high country.

Much as it has done each week for a month, a Pacific flow will deliver another round of light to moderate snowfall to the central and northern mountains through this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service in Denver.

Steamboat Springs, for example, could pick up another 2 inches overnight and up to 4 more today, adding to a snowpack of 94 percent of its 30-year average Friday.

Some areas could see up to 5 inches from the fast-moving storm, forecasters said.

The next mountain snowmaker? Thursday night and Friday, says the National Weather Service.

This weekend includes opening days for Steamboat, Crested Butte and Monarch Mountain on Wednesday; Aspen Mountain, Silverton Mountain, Telluride and Ski Cooper on Thursday; and Purgatory on Friday. Echo Mountain is set to open Nov. 30. Joey Bunch, The Denver Post
