COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Police have dismantled an anti-Wall Street protest site in downtown Colorado Spring.
Police Cmdr. Skip Arms said police moved in after 1 a.m. Monday in Acacia (Ah-case-EE’-ah) Park and removed several tent-like structures.
He says 50 to 75 protesters were at the scene but moved out of the park.
Arms said there was no use of force and no arrests were made.
Protest media liaison Jason Warf said the protesters had been using the park with a permit for the past month but the permit expired at midnight and the city had refused to renew it.
Around dawn, The Gazette ( ) reported that the only sign of the movement in the park were slogans written in chalk or spray paint on sidewalks.
