FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Four high-security inmates accused of throwing feces in the Larimer County jail and then barricading themselves in their cells could face criminal charges including rioting.

Sheriff’s spokesman John Schulz told the Coloradoan () it’s not clear what prompted the disturbance Sunday night. Their names weren’t immediately released.

The men are accused of throwing fecal matter while they were in a common area of the jail, then barricading themselves in their cells, and using sinks and toilets in the cells to flood them before eventually surrendering.

Schulz said Monday the inmates could face charges of rioting, second-degree assault on a peace officer, criminal mischief and obstructing government operations.

Schulz said additional information would likely be released next week.

No injuries were reported.
