FORT COLLINS, Colo.—The U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms has closed its investigation into a fire last July at a Colorado State University lab, without determining the cause.
The fire on the Foothills Campus west of Fort Collins destroyed the school’s Equine Reproduction Laboratory. No one was hurt.
ATF spokesman Brad Beyersdorf told the Coloradoan ( ) there isn’t enough evidence to officially declare the fire an accident. He said Monday that the cause will be ruled “undetermined.”
CSU has budgeted about $2.5 million for a new lab building.
