LAHAINA, Hawaii — Hurt by poor perimeter shooting, No. 8 Memphis was knocked off by No. 15 Michigan 73-61 in the opening round of the Maui Invitational on Monday.

The Tigers had trouble containing Michigan’s guards, but did a good job on the perimeter, holding the Wolverines to 6-of-20 from 3-point range. Memphis’ biggest problem came at the other end, where it hit just 33 percent from the floor and 4-of-20 from 3-point range to get bounced into the losers’ bracket.

Back in Maui for the first time since 1998, Michigan (4-0) shot 54 percent and was led by Tim Hardaway Jr.’s 21 points.

No. 6 Duke 77, Tennessee 67

LAHAINA, Hawaii — Austin Rivers scored 18 points, Seth Curry and Ryan Kelly had 17 each, and the Blue Devils (5-0) improved to 13-0 all time in the Maui Invitational.

SAN MARCOS, Texas — Alicia Leipprandt set career highs with 30 points and 12 rebounds to finish with the first double-double of her career, leading the Falcons (3-2) to their victory.

No. 2 Connecticut 68, No. 3 Stanford 58

HARTFORD, Conn. — Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis scored 25 points and Bria Hartley added 19 as the pair carried the Huskies (3-0) for the first 25 minutes. UConn held off a 10-2 second-half run by Stanford to get the win.
