MOFFAT COUNTY — A 62-year-old Utah man was killed in Moffat County on Thursday morning after the tanker truck filled with crude oil he was driving rolled and exploded.

At 8:50 a.m., the man was pulling the trailer north along Moffat County Road 51, according to a news release from the Colorado State Patrol.

As he made his way around a curve, the tractor and trailer rolled onto their left sides and burst into flames.

The man, who was from Vernal, died at the scene. His name had not been released.

The road was dry at the time of the crash. Drugs and alcohol were not suspected in the accident, but authorities were investigating the possibility of excessive speed.
