Canadian Kelby Halbert is almost too big to be a skier. His racing suit is double extra large, and his skis are the longest allowed. At 6-foot-8 and almost 240 pounds, Halbert is a skiing giant. “If you put me in a crowd of ski racers, I’m typically about a head above every one,” Halbert said last week after a training run in Lake Louise, Alberta. Teammate Jan Hudec suggested to Halbert that he bring an inflatable mattress with him on the road in Europe. “He complains a lot about the beds,” Canadian men’s coach Paul Kristofic said. “He doesn’t really fit into anything.”The Associated Press; Associated Press photo
