Administrators and student leaders at the University of Colorado at Boulder refuse to reveal their plans to take action against the annual 4/20 smokeout, which drew nearly 10,000 people to campus in April.

University spokesman Bronson Hilliard said administrators were advised by CU’s legal counsel to not discuss specifics.

“There have been a lot of good ideas, but we don’t want to share them at this point because we’re trying to keep them tight and focused,” Hilliard said.

For several years, CU officials have discussed plans to move the unsanctioned event. CU is getting closer to taking action, partially because of support from the CU student government, Hilliard said.

Brooks Kanski, a student government vice president, said student leaders were also keeping their discussions under wraps because of advice from legal counsel.
