The Mesa County Coroner’s Office said today that a alleged burglar in Grand Junction died last week from a gunshot wound to the head.
Jesus Ray Sanchez Jr., 43, allegedly broke into the home at 197 Indiana St. in Grand Junction early Friday and was killed by one of the two men inside.
Though the cause of death is listed as “homicide,” the coroner’s office noted today that the word “does not imply any culpability and refers only to the strict definition of the word.”
The shooting is under investigation by the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department.
