FORT COLLINS, Colo.—A Fort Collins man accused of causing a wildfire that burned nearly 3,000 acres last April is due in court to face arson charges.

Thomas Howie is due in court on Tuesday, accused of starting a fire on a windy day without a burn permit. The fire burned 13 homes.

According to the Fort Collins Coloradoan ( ), Howie is arguing that a downed power line or negligence by emergency responders might have caused the destruction.
