MIDDLETOWN, Conn.—A three-judge panel in Connecticut has viewed surveillance photos showing a man charged with killing a Wesleyan University student running with a handgun at the crime scene.

The photos were entered into evidence Thursday during the second day of 32-year-old Stephen Morgan’s trial at state court in Middletown. The pictures were taken from surveillance video from an off-campus bookstore café where Wesleyan junior Johanna Justin-Jinich of Timnath, Colo., was shot to death in 2009.

The Marblehead, Mass., native is charged with murdering Justin-Jinich. He chose three judges instead of a jury and is pursuing an insanity defense.

Authorities say the photos show Morgan entering the store wearing a wig and baseball cap and later running with the gun and without the disguise before exiting the building.
