COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—The Gazette of Colorado Springs says its editor is resigning and a new director of content has been named amid a company-wide reorganization.

The Gazette reported on its website Thursday ( ) that Jeff Thomas, the newspaper’s editor since 2006, will resign at the end of the year.

Carmen Boles, currently the newspaper’s senior director of interactive content and audience development, has been named director of content.

The newspaper described the reorganization as an initiative to put digital first. Interim publisher Mike Burns says the change is aimed at connecting better with readers and meeting their changing needs.

The Gazette is owned by California-based Freedom Communications Inc.
