BOULDER — The University of Colorado at Boulder has been named the “druggiest” college in America, according to a report from The Daily Beast and Newsweek.

The report — which relies on student ratings for low “drug scene” grades, on-campus arrests for drug violations, drug arrests per capita and data from the U.S. Department of Human Services National Survey on Drug Abuse — puts CU’s Boulder campus atop a list of 30 schools.

CU earned the top spot based on a grade of C- for drug safety, 801 on-campus drug arrests during the study period and 27.29 percent of people ages 18-25 statewide who are regular drug users.

Bronson Hilliard, a spokesman for the university, said the report doesn’t provide any new information.

“We’re perfectly aware of this problem, and we’ve taken more measures to work against it in the last five years than in any time in the university’s history,” he said. The Daily Camera
