Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae again said they are suspending many of their evictions during the holiday season from Dec. 19 to Jan. 2. “No family should have to give up their home during this holiday season,” said Terry Edwards, an executive vice president with Fannie Mae.

In recent years, Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae have declared eviction suspensions on foreclosures around the holidays. Several banks have followed suit in recent years, including Wells Fargo and JPMorgan Chase declaring moratoriums this year.

Any eviction involving foreclosed occupied single-family and two- to four-unit homes with Freddie Mac or Fannie Mae mortgages will be suspended for the set period.

The suspensions will apply only to eviction lockouts related to Freddie- or Fannie-owned properties and won’t affect other pre- or post-foreclosure processes. Dow Jones Newswires
