Vail Snow Daze concerts. The annual Vail Snow Daze celebration will take place Monday-Dec. 11. Four headliner concerts will take place, one per night, from Thursday-Dec. 11. The bands this year include (in order of appearance): Guster, Jakob Dylan, Yukon Kornelius and the Polish Ambassador. Other activities include a sponsor expo village, and après ski and after-dark parties.
Loveland snow sculpture contest. The second annual Snow Sculpture in the Dark competition will take place in Loveland Tuesday-Saturday. The event features seven teams as they hand-carve works of snow art to be judged by the community. Visitors can purchase s’mores kits to be enjoyed over provided fire pits Friday and Saturday, and watch a parade of lights at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. The community is also invited to a presculpting snow-stomping party at 5:30 p.m. on Monday to help create 8-foot snow molds for the competition.
Moonrise nordic ski social. The Pagosa Nordic Club will host a Moonrise/Sunset Cross Country Ski Social on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. Visitors can ski the nordic trails, then enjoy free soup and chili. Guests can socialize next to a campfire with hot chocolate and s’mores, as well. Bringing a potluck item to share is encouraged, though not required.
