BOULDER — The three 19-year-old students who police say beat a raccoon to death in November were each charged with felony aggravated cruelty to animals in court Friday, the Daily Camera reports.
Nicholas Foti, Lucas Holton and August Noble admitted to police they used a baseball bat, a machete and a hockey stick to kill a raccoon that had been going through their trash Nov. 7.
The three men told police they were trying to “put down” the animal after accidentally hitting it too hard, but neighbors told police the men were “pumped up” and “excited” while beating the raccoon.
All three will make their next court appearance Jan. 19.
