SAN DIEGO — Four days after blowing a 17-point first-half lead and losing by two points at home to Creighton, Chase Tapley and the San Diego State Aztecs came up big Sunday in a 64-63 victory over No. 24 California.
Tapley scored 25 points, including two free throws with 8.6 seconds left, to lead the Aztecs to their second consecutive victory over the Golden Bears. San Diego State also won last season against a Cal team that went to the NIT.
“I remember the feeling I had after Creighton, and we played every bit as hard as we did today, SDSU coach Steve Fisher said. “This was a great win for us.”
San Diego State (8-2) beat California 77-57 last season in Berkeley. This was San Diego State’s second win against a ranked Pac-12 team this season and its third overall against the more glamorous conference.
Allen Crabbe scored 23 points and Cobbs had 17 for the Golden Bears (6-2).
No. 7 Baylor 69, Northwestern 41
EVANSTON, Ill. — Quincy Acy and Pierre Jackson both scored 16 points as the Bears remained unbeaten.
Four players scored in double figures for the Bears (7-0), who cruised after an early game run. Jackson scored 14 points in the first half, while Perry Jones III added 12 and Brady Haslip 11. Acy had six blocks to lead a dominant performance in the paint on both ends of the court.
Drew Crawford had 15 points to lead Northwestern (7-1).
Wichita State 89, No. 18 UNLV 70
WICHITA, Kan. — Joe Ragland scored 19 of his 31 points in the first half as the Shockers cruised past the Rebels.
Ragland, who entered the game with five 3-pointers this season, was 8-of-9 from beyond the arc for Wichita State (5-2), one off the school record for 3s in a game. Carl Hall added 17 points.
Chace Stanback had 16 points for UNLV (8-1). Mike Moser added 12 points and seven rebounds for the Rebels.

Colorado 68, Idaho 59
BOULDER — Chucky Jeffery recorded a double-double with 30 points and 10 rebounds as the Buffs improved to 7-0 for the first time since the 1993-94 season.
Jeffery scored seven of her career-best 30 points in the final 2:14 as CU overcame a 59-58 Idaho lead and dropped the Vandals to 2-6.
Toledo 58, Colorado State 51
TOLEDO, Ohio — Sophomore forward Sam Martin led the Rams (1-7) with 21 points in their loss to the Rockets (5-2).
Toledo scored 23 points off 27 Colorado State turnovers. Andola Dortch led Toledo with 16 points.

MINNEAPOLIS — Brittney Griner scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds while Odyssey Sims added 15 points for the Lady Bears (8-0), who were never really threatened.
