BOULDER, Colo.—A Boulder County deputy sheriff has been arrested after investigators found a patrol car computer had been used for sexual communications with apparent underage girls.

Sheriff Joe Pelle said Tuesday that Deputy Rick Ferguson is facing charges of Internet sexual exploitation of a child, luring of a child and other charges. Bond was set at $100,000.

The sheriff’s office was notified in November by Boulder County computer technicians of unusual activity on a deputy’s computer. A search warrant was later issued for Ferguson’s home computer and the investigation is continuing.

Ferguson is a 30-year veteran with the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office. It was not known if he had an attorney.
