The numbers from last week’s Colorado Gives Day are amazing: 52,000 of us gave $12 million to some 900 nonprofits. Still, needs remain, and here are a couple:

Arsen is a 14-year-old A-student at a Denver high school. He also suffers from a rare cancer that has caused him to undergo 100 surgeries. Arsen has to walk 10 blocks to school every day, and the cold weather only adds to his discomfort. So from noon to 4 p.m. today, the generous souls at Utopia Salon, 260 Columbine St., are donating proceeds from cuts, colors, facials and manicures to a transportation fund established in cooperation with Metro Cabs. Walk-ins are welcome, but a call ahead (303-321-8338) is appreciated.

• Boulder’s St. Julien Hotel & Spa is having Gingerbread Teas every Saturday and Sunday through Dec. 31, with proceeds going to There With Care, a nonprofit organization serving children and families coping with serious illness. The fee, $29.95 for adults and $19.95 for children, includes refreshments, the piano stylings of Ralph Sharon and the chance for the kiddies to decorate gingerbread cookies with help from a hotel chef. Attendees are also encouraged to donate items from the There With Care wish list, things like diapers, baby carriers, wipes and onesies. Call 720-406-8208.

This and that. Dancers from the Colorado Ballet production of “The Nutcracker” will be on hand Wednesday when Project Angel Heart serves its 4 millionth meal. … Miss Colorado, Diana Dreman, is the speaker on Thursday when Cancer League of Colorado has its holiday luncheon at David and Christina Richardson’s home. Lori Marks-Connors, Nicole Gampp and Garret Hommel are the chairmen. … Dr. Margie Ball-Cook, Tina Carter, Alexis Fleming and Ahmani Noble were honored at the Harambee Brunch put on by the Denver section of the National Council of Negro Women.
