The South Adams County Fire district says one adult and 42 children are being evaluated after getting sick because of an odor.
Thimmig Elementary School in Brighton first alerted fire officials of the odor around 10 a.m.
Fire officials say the odor was a cherry-scented deodorant used for sanitizing trash cans and other areas. They say the deodorant is not hazardous unless it gets into eyes or is consumed.
The 42 children are being held on a school bus at the school. Parents will need to release them in order for them to go back to school.
