HOUSTON — Texans star receiver Andre Johnson will sit out Sunday’s game at Cincinnati because of a strained left hamstring.

Johnson hurt himself chasing down a deep pass from rookie T.J. Yates late in the third quarter of last week’s 17-10 victory over the Falcons. Johnson didn’t practice all week, and coach Gary Kubiak said Friday he would keep him out of Sunday’s game.

The Texans have won six in a row and can clinch the AFC South with a victory over the Bengals and a Titans’ loss to the Saints.

Johnson was playing his second game after missing six with a right hamstring injury that required minor surgery.

“It’s very disappointing,” Johnson said. “You work your butt off to get back after missing six games, and then to have something like this to happen again is very frustrating. But at the same time, the team’s in a great position. I’m just trying to do everything I can to get back, so that I can get back out on the field and play.”

Johnson couldn’t say if he’d be ready to play in Houston’s next game — Dec. 18 against Carolina.

Seymour sacked with $30K fine

NEW YORK — Raiders defensive lineman Richard Seymour was fined $30,000 by the NFL for punching Dolphins offensive lineman Richie Incognito during Sunday’s game.

Seymour is a repeat offender, having had to pay $25,000 last season after punching Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

New England’s Jerod Mayo and Detroit’s Brandon Pettigrew were each fined $25,000. Mayo struck Indianapolis quarterback Dan Orlovsky “in the head and neck area” but wasn’t penalized. Pettigrew was fined for abusive conduct toward an official at New Orleans. Green Bay’s Charles Woodson was fined $15,000 for hitting Giants quarterback Eli Manning in the head with his forearm.

Footnotes.

Pittsburgh’s Roethlisberger underwent an MRI for an ankle injury suffered during Thursday night’s victory over the Browns. Results were unavailable, but Roethlisberger remained optimistic he will play when the Steelers travel to San Francisco on Dec. 19.

• The Cowboys signed safety Gerald Sensabaugh to a five-year contract extension.

• Packers running back James Starks (ankle) and linebacker Desmond Bishop (calf) will not play Sunday against the Raiders.

• Vikings running back Adrian Peterson (ankle) and quarterback Christian Ponder (hip) are questionable for Sunday’s game against the Lions.

• Jets right guard Brandon Moore is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Chiefs because of a sore hip that sidelined him all week.

• Redskins safety LaRon Landry will miss Sunday’s game against the Patriots because of a groin injury.
